Geelong Sculptors is taking a break you can still contact us though via email [email protected]
Here is the report on why we are taking a break: On SATURDAY 16th November 2024 the AGM for the GSInc was held at midday. Three members outside the committee also attended, George and Jan Francis, and Silvana B At the meeting, all office bearers elected to stand down, therefore (we thought....) no committee could be formed for the GSInc for 2025. Silvana acknowledged the work and knowledge and skills that all previous committee members had put in over the years and suggested that it would be a shame to lose that knowledge and opportunity by dismantling the group, therefore she offered an exciting proposal. It was suggested that the association could 'freeze' for one year. This would mean that the group would not have to dissolve/fold, it would be put on hold for a year. This would enable members time to consider whether they would like to nominate to be part of the committee at our next AGM in preparation for the 2026 year. Justin (Vice President) clarified that in his experience this is a viable option. To enable this to occur, all current committee members then re-nominated for this year so that the GSInc would not fold and the opportunity for its continuation could be continued in the future.
What a 'hold/freeze' would mean.... This would mean that there will be NO COMMITTEE MEETINGS throughout the year Regular membership activities, coffee catch ups, gallery visits, PD days and EXHIBITIONS will not be held. This includes the planned exhibitions at Hoop Gallery( Easter) , and at Eagles Nest Gallery.
Please note - the 2025 AGM WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 26TH, 2025. Nomination forms will be available throughout the year if you are interested in nominating to be on the committee at that AGM. You will be notified in September of 2025 of the AGM date.
So..... it's time to pause, to reset, to reflect and see what happens....
